HSBC volunteer their help this Christmas

From November onwards our offices start to resemble Santa’s own, with elves sorting gifts and getting them packed up to cheer children with cancer at Christmas time.

Why volunteer?

So we are hugely grateful that a team of HSBC employees chose to volunteer with us at such a time of need.

Gemma Elliot, a Premier Manager with the bank explains why: ‘Our team was looking for an engaging and worthwhile volunteering opportunity. I contacted Cancer Recovery Foundation because I admire their work and it was a cause we all agreed we would like to support. Cancer Recovery Foundation offered us a range of options to get involved with the charity, all aimed at team building, offering a sense of achievement and meeting our specific needs as well as their own.’

Team time

After a brief introduction to the charity, the team got stuck straight in to preparing gift bags for children this Christmas. Their work meant that all the bags were ready to be distributed on time, with some special hand made gifts from the team included alongside our usual toys.

The bags and toys have been sent out to hospitals and hospices across the country that need extra help to distract, reward and stimulate children undergoing cancer treatment over the festive period.

Gemma shares: ‘Being able to make a difference to families at this very difficult time was rewarding and motivational. We all had a fantastic day and the activities helped us to get to know each other, and the charity, much better. Now we do, we'll definitely be back to support this fantastic cause again and again!'

Thank you again to HSBC for their help this Christmas. More children with cancer will be smiling thanks to you and your help.
